Hungry Hands

I was in Bankerohan market this morning with Davao Today's Barry Ohaylan. It's so distressing to see these people queue and waited for the NFA rice retailer to release the mandated two kilos of rice for each person. Most of them said that they've started to line up as early as 1a.m.! Then as the rice dealer came in to the crowd and distributed number tags, the crowd became pretty unruly as they scuffle to get the tags.

The rice dealer was so kind enough to ask the people not to break the line because they will still receive the tags. Young and old were apparently yearning to get to the front to get two kilos of ‘good quality’ of Thailand rice for P25 per kilo.

To avoid of being trampled in the long queue, the senior citizens were separated from the long queue and grouped them together across the retailer’s store. But then even the elders were the ones went rowdy shortly before the release of the rice. All of the elders wanted to be on the front. The NFA staff slowly pulled t...

Priest home after 56-day, 5,164 km bike ride "for life and peace"

MindaNews
Sunday, 18 May 2008 16:28
DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/18 May) – Cheers and applause, cold juice and water and hamburger sandwiches greeted Redemptorist priest Amado “Picx” Picardal as he entered the hilly driveway at the Redemptorist compound here at 2:15 p.m. today, ending 56 days of his nationwide “bicycle journey for life and peace” around the country.

Picardal completed 5,164 kilometers of bike ride from Davao to Aparri and back from Easter Monday, March 24, when he left Davao City, until his arrival today, May 18.

Picardal came home with bruised knees, having “crashed twice” a day earlier, along the rocky road of Cateel in Davao Oriental, with no one to help him.

JUMP-OFF: Philippine Bike-Tour for Life and Peace

NOTE: Repost ko lang ang blog entry ni Fr. Picardal from his blogspot: <a href="http://amadopicardal.blogspot.com/">http://amadopicardal.blogspot.com/</a>

Philippine Bike-Tour for Life and Peace:
Preaching the Gospel of Life amidst the Culture of Death
Departure statement of Fr. Amado L. Picardal, CSsR

Today I begin my journey around the Philippine on a bicycle. I will be pedaling around 5,000 kilometers in 56 days – from Davao across Central and Western Visayas to the tip of Northern Luzon and traversing the Cordilleras on my way back to Davao through Southern Luzon, the Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao. I will be biking the entire distance alone but I will be accompanied at times by local bikers as I pass their cities and towns.

In every parish where I will stay for the night, I will celebrate the Eucharist and preach the gospel of life and peace. I do this because we live in a land where the value and sanctity of life is disregarded, a society where the culture of death and violence prevails. There are ...

Sophie bombed the church!

As usual, Sophie was very excited when she saw me preparing her collar. She knew we're going somewhere. When we were along Road 6, she pissed anywhere then dumped her s___t in a grassy portion of Road 4 near Ponce Suites. When she saw some mammoth sculptures, she ran away. As if she saw a monster or something.

at church....check the photos :)

Extremely Rare photos of Sophie

It's extremely rare to capture Sophie facing the camera. When she'd know that you'll take a picture of her, she'd turn her head away from the camera. Even camera phones, she'll recognize it. Some said maybe because she doesn't like the flash, but no, even without flash, she hates to be photographed. You just have to be quick for you to be able to capture her face
